Belgium / 9 min / Experimental, Archive, Essay FilmIn this lyrical excavation of memory, I turns my gaze to the grainy textures of my bohemian childhood, unearthing nearly fifteen hours of home video filmed by my father between the mid-90s and early 2000s. By pulling stills from a sea of moving images, I perform a kind of rescue, lifting moments from the blur of memory and giving them weight, texture, and space. In doing so, I trace lines of neurodivergence, intergenerational trauma, but also tenderness, eccentricity, and joy, and begin to rewrite the story. Not to clean it up, but to hold it differently. Echoing the spirit of Nan Goldin’s The Ballad of Sexual Dependency, these images resist digital ephemerality, finding instead a home in shared space. Screened with a curated soundtrack, the film becomes a live experience, an act of remembrance, and a quiet insistence on the radical intimacy of gathering.
Soundtrack: Laurie Anderson, Sinéad O’Connor, Angel Corpus Christi, Jonas Mekas
